I fled my country Cameron because of my sexuality. I am a lesbian. OPAL has helped me gain more confidence and self-esteem.
I am Christian Kikep Nguemou, a proud gay man from Cameroon. I left Cameroon because of the life of having to lie to avoid persecution. In the UK, I did not come out because my circle of friends were from Cameroon, and I knew how they perceived gay people
I want to thank the OPAL and fellow community members; if it were not for OPAL, I would not have been here, I would not be out and proud, and my confidence would have been shallow. OPAL has built trust in me, and I can be the person I only dreamed of. I am living my life openly because I know there are people I call now friends or family. I also want to thank OPAL for allowing me to showcase my dance talent – my hidden talent.
